Merrick 's Alternative Telecommunications (ATC) is an Alternative Education program. This program is for secondary students who have violated the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct and have been assigned to ATC by the Division of Alternative Education. Students may also be under the supervision of a workback counselor or a juvenile justice officer.

Students receive classes at home by telephone. Once the assigned time in ATC is successfully completed, students are returned to the regular education environment or may be assigned to another Alternative Education Program.
