Merrick Educational Center provides education services to handicapped and disabled students across the entire school district.

Profoundly Mentally Handicapped students are served in the classrooms of Merrick Educational Center.

The Community Based Program for the Profoundly Mentally Handicapped provides instruction and related services at home to students who are too medically or physically fragile to participate in a classroom program.

 

The Homebound / Hospitalized Instructional Program (HHIP) has two main components that work with each other to provide a wide rage of curriculum opportunities to students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons. Itinerant teachers provide direct instruction at home or in the hospital to students in grades kindergarten thorough five and well as eligible ESOL and exceptional students in grades kindergarten through twelve. Teleclass offers middle and senior high school required courses and electives to homebound or hospitalized secondary students using teleconferencing equipment in specially designed studios.
